IPL numbers for an RS9 Game entry: 20 overs, a 6-over powerplay, 10 clubs
An IPL match is a T20. Each innings is at most 20 overs. A legal over is 6 balls. A wide or a no-ball is rebowled, so an over can last more than 6 deliveries and still count as one over. 20 × 6 = 120 legal balls if the batting side faces the full innings.
Fielders outside the 30-yard circle
Overs 1 to 6 are the powerplay: at most 2 fielders outside the 30-yard circle. Overs 7 to 20: at most 5 fielders outside that circle. A fantasy total does not award points for a fielding-restriction breach. The breach is a no-ball on the field, which is 1 run to the batting side and a rebowled ball. The bowler's economy uses the runs the scorebook records, including that 1.
Ten clubs
The IPL clubs since the 2022 expansion are Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. That is 10. A contest for one match still picks from the two clubs in that match, not from all 10. The cap on how many of your 11 may come from one of those two sides is not stable across Dream11's own pages. The picker page shows the contradiction and one XI that survives both published caps.
Impact player
Since the 2023 IPL season a side may send on one Impact Player from its nominated substitutes. On the Dream11 card dated 25 October 2026, a playing Impact, concussion, or X-Factor substitute scores 4 plus whatever they then do, and a nominated substitute who does not play scores 0 for being named. The windows in which the IPL allows the substitution are the league's playing conditions for that season. This page does not restate a window it has not copied from that season's conditions. If your player is the one replaced, their points stop at the events already completed. The points page records the matching rule: an announced player who never takes the field scores 0.
What this page does not calculate
It does not repeat the 56-point batter. That sum, 28 + 12 + 6 + 4 + 6, is only on the points page. It does not repeat the ₹30 and ₹80 lines. Those are only on the home page. A captain multiplier still applies to IPL points the same way: 2 for the captain, 1.5 for the vice-captain, on whatever total the contest card produces.

One over that takes 8 deliveries
Legal balls are the only balls that count toward 6. A wide and a no-ball do not.
- Legal dot. Legal count 1. Runs 0.
- Wide. Not legal. Legal count stays 1. The batting side is credited 1.
- Legal single. Legal count 2. Runs from the bat 1.
- Front-foot no-ball. Not legal. Legal count stays 2. The batting side is credited 1, plus anything scored off the bat on that delivery. The next ball is a free hit.
- Free hit, four. Legal count 3. Runs 4. On this ball the striker cannot be out bowled, caught, lbw, stumped, or hit wicket. A run-out still applies.
- Legal dot. Legal count 4.
- Legal wicket, bowled. Legal count 5. This ball is not the free hit.
- Legal single. Legal count 6. The over is complete.
Eight deliveries were bowled. Six were legal. The runs in this list are 1 + 1 + 1 + 4 + 1 = 8, before any further bat runs on the no-ball. The over still counts as one of the 20. Twenty such clean overs would be 120 legal balls. The powerplay is the first 6 overs, 36 legal balls, with at most 2 fielders outside the 30-yard circle. The other 14 overs are 84 legal balls, with at most 5 outside. 36 + 84 = 120.
At the instant of delivery, IPL conditions allow no more than 5 fielders on the on side. Eleven fielders on the field then means at least 6 on the off side. A breach of that count, or of the circle count, is a no-ball. In T20 conditions the following ball is a free hit. Neither breach has its own line on the fantasy card. The bowler's economy uses the runs the scorebook records, including the 1 run for the no-ball.
Points, no-result, and the 26/229 example
A win is 2 points on the IPL table. A loss is 0. A no-result is 1 point each, and that match is left out of net run rate. A result requires at least 5 overs bowled to the side batting second. The scheduled break between innings is 20 minutes. A fielder who is off the field for more than 8 minutes serves that time back before they can bowl or bat.
Net run rate is runs scored divided by overs faced, minus runs conceded divided by overs bowled. A side bowled out is charged its full 20 overs, not the overs actually batted. An over of 18.1 is 18 + 1/6 = 109/6 overs, not the decimal 18.1. An over of 16.4 is 16 + 4/6 = 50/3 overs, not 16.4.
Two matches for one club. Match 1: score 180 in 20 overs, concede 160 in 20. Match 2: bowled out for 140, so the overs faced are 20, while the opponent scores 141 in 18.1 overs. Runs for are 180 + 140 = 320. Overs faced are 20 + 20 = 40. The scoring rate is 320 / 40 = 8. Runs against are 160 + 141 = 301. Overs bowled against this club are 20 + 109/6 = 229/6. The conceding rate is 301 / (229/6) = 1806/229. Net run rate is 8 − 1806/229. Because 8 = 1832/229, the difference is (1832 − 1806) / 229 = 26/229, which is 0.114 to three decimals.
Using 16.4 as 50/3 overs for the all-out innings, instead of 20, is the common error. Overs faced become 20 + 50/3 = 110/3. The scoring rate becomes 320 / (110/3) = 96/11. Subtracting the same conceding rate gives 96/11 − 1806/229 = 2118/2519, about 0.841. That figure is not the club's net run rate. The all-out innings is 20 overs. The points page does not use net run rate at all. Fantasy points are the card. A super over adds 0 on that card.
Ten clubs, and why 14 games is not a round-robin
Ten clubs make 10 × 9 / 2 = 45 unique pairs. A league in which each club plays 14 games is 10 × 14 / 2 = 70 games. Fourteen is not a multiple of 9, so the list cannot be a single round-robin, which would be 9 games each, or a double round-robin, which would be 18. Five opponents twice and four opponents once is 5 × 2 + 4 × 1 = 14. The season's fixture list is the check. If it shows a different number of league games, use the list.
The playoff structure to count on that list, when the league sends four clubs through, is four matches: qualifier 1 is 1 against 2, the eliminator is 3 against 4, qualifier 2 is the loser of qualifier 1 against the winner of the eliminator, and the final is the winner of qualifier 1 against the winner of qualifier 2. Seventy league games plus those four is 74. This page does not name a 2026 winner or a final date. The Impact Player rule is in use for the 2026 season. A playing Impact scores 4 plus events on the card dated 25 October 2026. A nominated substitute who does not play scores 0. The substitution window is the season's playing conditions, not a number this page copies from memory.
A shortened match, and the 17.3 trap
If the side batting second has faced fewer than 5 overs, the match is a no-result: 1 point each, and the game is omitted from net run rate. Five overs is 30 legal balls. A result from that point on stands. When rain ends a chase under DLS, the net-run-rate sum uses the par score, not the runs the chasing side happened to have at the moment play stopped. This page does not invent a par score. The match referee's figure is the one that enters the table.
A scoreboard prints 17.3 for 17 overs and 3 balls. In the division that is 17 + 3/6 = 17.5 overs, not the decimal 17.3. The same trap sits on every ball count: 1 ball is 1/6, 2 is 1/3, 3 is 1/2, 4 is 2/3, 5 is 5/6, and the sixth ball completes the over. 140 runs from 17.3 is 140 / 17.5 = 8 exactly. 140 / 17.3 is about 8.09, and that is not the rate. An all-out side does not use the balls it faced at all. It is charged 20 overs, which is the case already worked to 26/229.
